SPOKE Motorcycle Festival
Spoke'n Tales
Keri Thurley is not your ordinary rider. She first started riding bikes a couple of years ago, in her late forties. She was immediately attracted by adventure bikes, drawn by their ability to explore off-road as well as cover long distances.
Within three months of her first ever ride, she completed her first BMW off-road safari.
Since then, she has bought a dirt bike, developed her dirt bike skills and ridden at least 100,000 kms in multiple countries including Bosnia, Namibia and even done the Finke – and fallen in love with sand riding.
Keri is set on inspiring more women to take up riding big adventure bikes, and is committed to breaking the myth they are too heavy or intimidating. “Riding big bikes like my favourite, a BMW 1250GS, really is an exhilarating and rewarding, empowering experience,” she says.
About Spoke
Called ‘spoke’ because of the obvious, the spoke of the motorcycle wheel, but also because of the spoken word. The stories told by motorcyclists all over the world about their bikes, their adventures & friendships made. If you pull on a helmet & ride a motorbike, then you have a story to tell. Come & share it.
